Daniel Eduardo Lopez-Mendez

It is with great sadness we announce Daniel Eduardo Lopez Mendez passed away on 13 August 2024 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 18. Loved by his parents Bertha and Jesus Fabian; by his siblings David and Alejandra as well as by all his extended family. Daniel was born on March 17, 2006 in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. The Lopez family left this city in 2013 to start a new life in San Antonio, Texas. Daniel completed the “dual” bilingual program at Vineyard Ranch Elementary and José Lopez Middle School. With the challenges of the pandemic, he managed to graduate 1 year earlier from Claudia Taylor Johnson High School with “Cum Laude.” Daniel had already started college in “Computer Science” at Texas A&M San Antonio. He served as an “altar boy” for 6 years at the Sanctuary of Saint Padre Pio.

In mysterious ways, His parents had already dreamed of him with the name of Daniel long before he was born. Despite being introverted, Daniel was a charming person. He brought immeasurable joy and light to our lives with his kind heart, radiant smile, and boundless curiosity. Daniel was a boy full of imagination and with many talents. In his mind he created intricate models of time and the universe. He shared his inventiveness and spontaneity with very deep thoughts for a boy of his age. He was different and unique, free-spirited and a free-thinker, always questioning and looking for answers. Daniel viewed the world through a spiritual lens preparing his parents for the future to come. We celebrate the life of someone special, someone with whom we shared travels, ups and downs. You leave us your noble, sweet and curious look. We were marked by your freedom and courage with which you lived and by the many difficulties you overcame. His life is a testament to the power of perseverance and tenacity. His departure pains us greatly and although his time with us was brief; we thank God for the times we laughed together; for the love and precious experiences we shared.

Tears flow from us; but at the same time we feel peace and joy. We thank God for the precious and blessed hope that we will see each other again thanks to the work of Christ on the Cross. We will continue forward, bringing God's love to others as a tribute to our beloved son Daniel and for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today his body returns to dust and his spirit returns to God. Daniel went ahead of us and rests in Jesus living the new eternal beginning at his side.

On August 23, 2024 is the religious service at the Sanctuary of St. Padre Pio to celebrate the precious life of Daniel, surrounded by family and friends. We remember a life that, although short, was truly a gift to all of us. His remains will rest in peace in the niches of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León.

If you could see with your eyes the horizons, the eternal fields and the new paths that I crossed! Believe me: When death comes to break your bonds as it has broken those that chained me, that day you will see again the one who loved you and who always loves you, and you will find his heart with all its purified tenderness. You will see me again, but transfigured and happy, no longer waiting for death, but advancing with you along the new paths of Light and Life.

Con gran pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de Daniel Eduardo Lopez Mendez ocurrido el 13 de Agosto de 2024 en San Antonio Texas a la edad de 18 años. Amado por sus padres Bertha y Jesus Fabian; por sus hermanos David y Alejandra así como todos sus familiares. Daniel nació el 17 de Marzo del 2006 en la ciudad de Monterrey, NL. La familia López dejo esta ciudad en 2013 para comenzar una nueva vida en San Antonio Texas. Daniel llego como estudiante del programa dual de Vineyard Ranch Elementary y de José López Middle School. Con su condición especial y los desafíos de la pandemia, logro graduarse anticipadamente de Claudia Taylor Johnson High School con mención “Cum Laude”. Daniel ya había iniciado la Universidad en “Computer Science” en Texas A&M San Antonio. Sirvió como “monaguillo” durante 6 años en el Santuario de San Padre Pio.

A pesar de ser introvertido, Daniel fue una persona encantadora. Sus papás ya lo habían soñado desde antes de nacer con el nombre de Daniel. Él trajo alegría y luz inconmensurables a nuestras vidas con su corazón bondadoso, sonrisa radiante y curiosidad ilimitada. Daniel fue un muchacho lleno de imaginación y con muchos talentos; en su mente elaboraba modelos intrincados del tiempo y del universo. Su ingenio y espontaneidad la compartía con pensamientos muy profundos para un muchacho de su edad; era diferente y único, de espíritu y pensamiento libre, siempre cuestionando y buscando respuestas. Daniel veía el mundo a través de una lente espiritual preparando a sus papas para el futuro venidero. Celebramos la vida de alguien especial, alguien con quien compartimos viajes, alegrías y tristezas. Nos dejas tu mirada noble, dulce y curiosa; nos marcó tu libertad y valentía con la que viviste, las muchas dificultades que superaste. Su vida es un testimonio del poder de la perseverancia y tenacidad. Nos duele enormemente su partida y aunque su tiempo con nosotros fue breve; agradecemos a Dios por las veces que reímos juntos; por el amor y las vivencias preciosas que compartimos.

Las lágrimas nos brotan; pero al mismo tiempo sentimos paz y gozo. Damos gracias a Dios por la preciosa y bendita esperanza de que nos volveremos a ver gracias a la obra de Cristo en la Cruz. Seguiremos adelante, llevando el amor de Dios a los demás como un homenaje a nuestro amado hijo Daniel y para la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Hoy su cuerpo vuelve al polvo y su espíritu regresa a Dios. Daniel se nos adelantó y descansa en Jesús viviendo el nuevo comienzo eterno a su lado.El día 23 de Agosto 2024 es el servicio religioso en el Santuario de San Padre Pio para celebrar la preciosa vida de Daniel, rodeado de amigos y familiares. Recordamos una vida que, aunque corta, fue verdaderamente un regalo para todos nosotros. Sus restos descansaran en paz en los nichos del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Fátima en San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León.
