

Darlene Faye Schallhorn Palmer, age 78, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. Darlene was born in Redmond, Oregon, to Melvin Schallhorn and Anna Elizabeth Harry. She graduated from Moses Lake High School, Washington, and lived the majority of her adult years in Summerville, South Carolina. Darlene and John Palmer were married for 35 years and they loved traveling in their motor home. They traveled all over the U.S., from coast to coast, visiting friends and loved ones. Her hobbies included bowling, fishing, camping, ceramics, sewing, and she was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband John S. Palmer and dearest brother Marvin Schallhorn. Darlene Faye Palmer is survived by her two children Cheryl Ann Johnson (Mike) and William (Bill) Joiner (Jen), as well as her three step-children Debbie Palmer Solis (Jose), Mary Palmer Gilbert (Richard), and Greg Palmer; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Ella Valdez, Carol Valdez, Susan Johnson, Christine Dewald, Ron Schallhorn, and Mike Schallhorn.
An intimate memorial service will be held on September 24, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Road, San Antonio, TX. Darlene will be laid to rest beside John in Charleston, SC.
