Darrell A. Tomblin, age 76, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to parents John Oran and Thelka Regina Tomblin (née Wallendorf). After attending high school in San Antonio, Darrell joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California. After serving his country, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he met and married the love of his life, Carole, and, together, they raised two children. As a real estate developer and entrepreneur, the family traveled back and forth between Nevada and Texas until settling permanently in San Antonio. Darrell was always an avid Cowboys fan, every year proclaiming, "This is their year!" He made many friends throughout his life and was especially close to his siblings. His greatest legacy, though, will always be as "The Greatest Grandpa in The World." Darrell lived for his three grandchildren and did anything and everything for them. In recent years, watching his grandson play football brought him immense joy. Darrell was predeceased by his parents; his love, Carole; his brothers, John Tomblin and Anthony "Lucky" Tomblin; and his sister JoBeth Davenport. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Joannah Tomblin; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Peter Garcia; his three grandchildren, Jarrod and Alexandra Garcia and Nicole Tomblin; his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gerald Mutchler; his brother, Mark Tomblin; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Dan Wilensky; his sister and brother-in-law, Sheryl and Terry Horton; his brother and sister-in-law, Stephan and Carol Tomblin, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
