

David was born on November 22, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to Lorraine and Billy Foster. He grew up in Oklahoma and later moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated from Churchill High School. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, David built a successful career as a Registered Nurse and IT Specialist, merging his passion for helping others with his love of technology.
Outside of his professional life, David had a wide range of interests. A lover of music, he was an avid guitarist and singer. He found joy and peace in nature’s wonders through his love of landscaping, river rafting, fishing, and fossil hunting. His other hobbies included computer programming, gaming, and cheering on the Cowboys and the Spurs.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deborah Foster; his children, Michael Foster and wife Marissa, Matthew Foster, and Katie Patterson and husband Rowdy; his beloved grandchildren, Addilyn, Aubrey, Julia, Kate, Brooke, Ellie, and Wilder; his brother, Steve Foster and wife Ruth; his sisters-in-law, LaVon Parker and husband Donald, and Elizabeth Herring; his brother-in-law, Charles Herring; his niece, Jennifer Loebs and husband Jeremy; and his nephew, Curtis Herring and wife Aubrie.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Billy Foster; his parents-in-law, Evajean and Bud Herring; his brother-in-law, Richard Herring; his sister-in-law, Carla Herring; and his niece, Megan Herring.
A graveside military service to honor David’s life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
David’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will be cherished forever.
