

Born David Jon Gangestad to his loving parents, Darlene Catherine (Duncan) Gangestad and Ernest Marvin Gangestad, in Omaha, Nebraska, David passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a lengthy and well-fought battle for his health.
David is survived by his two children: David Jon and his wife, Jennifer Lane, Nicole Andrea and husband, Sean Michalec; his three grandchildren, David Jon Gangestad and his wife, Mildred, Ryan Raymond Moore, and Kyle Raymond Moore; his great-grandson Noah Jon Gangestad; his sister Judy Miller; his niece Cheryl Olson; his nephews Jon Hartowicz and Christopher Pestolis; and the rest of his family and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Darlene; his sister, Karen Ann McCord; and his niece, Dena Catherine Pestolis.
David was a devoted son, brother, father, and friend, deeply loved by all who knew him. His warmth, kindness, and excellent sense of humor were a source of comfort and joy to countless individuals. He faced life's challenges with courage, a hefty dose of humor, and smiles, inspiring those around him to cherish every moment.
David proudly served his country as a highly decorated paratrooper in the Vietnam War. Instead of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to the DAV or Gary Sinise Foundation, reflecting David's passion for helping other veterans. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas. 78238 on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 9:30 am at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with a graveside service at 11:15am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with US Army military honors..
