David was born March 11, 1955, in Denver, Colorado to Edward and Barbara Hunter. Growing up, David was a Boy Scout and Eagle Scout. He attended the 1969 7th National Boy Scouts Jamboree where President Nixon addressed the Jamboree Scouts. David was an altar boy and was promoted to a Supreme Grand Knight altar boy while at Our Lady of the Stars Chapel at Vandenberg AFB. He received the Ad Altare Dei Cross award for Catholic Boy Scouts.
David graduated Class of 1973 from Knob Noster High School in Missouri. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1974 and was stationed at Eglin AFB, Florida as an F-4 Mechanic and Radar Technician. After his honorable discharge from the USAF, he moved to San Antonio, Texas and worked at the Singer Sewing Machine store in Central Park Mall. Looking for a change, he became a portrait studio photographer for PCA working at Joskes and Dillards, and was selected as the regional trainer for new photographers. After leaving PCA, he joined the K-Mart traveling portrait studio team. He eventually joined West Telemarketing where he was a licensed insurance agent selling insurance for all 50 states. In addition to his love of photography, he loved to tell jokes. Complicated or simple one-liners, he made up jokes from everyday words or phrases, and told them to family, friends and strangers alike; anywhere and everywhere he went. He developed quite a following, which he lovingly referred to as "La Familia". He loved to take pictures of all kinds of flowers and other things and printed them as photo cards with one of his jokes on them and handed them out to everyone.
David taught himself how to play the guitar. He was very active in providing music at any venue he could from elementary schools, weddings, funerals, and at family gatherings for 50 years. Being active in the Catholic Church, he was a choir director at St Luke's, Christ the King, and St. Henrys Catholic Churches. He was a patriot and felt the need to celebrate our Veterans, so he volunteered to play for the patients at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital the first Sunday of every month.
David was proceeded in death by his wife, Anita Hunter, his mother Barbara Moskaluk-Hunter, and his brother, Edward (Eddy) Hunter. He leaves behind his dad Edward Hunter and wife Betty; his brother Mark and family; his sister Suzanne and family; his two sons, David (D.J.) Hunter, and Richard Hunter and wife Virginia; his step-daughter Linda Stephens and step-son Walter Stephens. He had seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
