

He was born in Kerrville, Texas to David and Mary Myers McCullough. The family later moved to San Antonio where he graduated from Alamo Heights High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
A talented musician, David played guitar and bass with rock and roll and blues bands off and on for over 40 years. He performed for several years with Augie Meyers and the Western Head Band, and toured the country with the Frankie Lee Blues Band after relocating to Oakland, California.
David served his country honorably during the Vietnam War as a Navy Corpsman assigned to the U.S. Marines. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon and the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Margaret McCullough Buescher. He is survived by his brother William Wallace (Debbie); sister Susan McCullough Altgelt (Ernie); niece Christie McCullough; nephews William Wallace McCullough, Jr., James Ernest Altgelt III, and David McCullough Altgelt and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
David was a kind soul and a friend to many, and will be greatly missed.
A private interment service will be held at a later date at Glen Rest Cemetery in Kerrville due to the current COVID protocols.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
