We're so sorry to learn of David's passing. He was our neighbor many years ago in San Antonio. David was such and inspiration and a delightful kind person. He will be greatly missed.

I learned of David's death while on a long trip to New Mexico, and am so sorry I was unable to attend services. David was a big part of my life growing up in an idyllic spot for kids. We were all very close in our neighborhood enclave in the country. He was remarkable in adversity, and I will always remember him with fond thoughts and happy memories.

My childhood memories are filled with the wondrous exploits of the kids of Dream Hills Estates. In a time when imaginations and creativity stimulated our innocent lives, we were like a 50's version of Our Gang. I learned football in the Morse’s front yard under the lights; I learned baseball in the pasture and basketball in the backyard. We wrestled and we boxed and we played all the street games that kids today will never experience. My growing up years are filled with all of these fantastic memories and they all seem to come flooding back to me as I am writing this. Those are the good times of my life and thinking about those years always puts me in a special place. Nobody except those who were a part of the gang can ever understand how I feel or why I smile or laugh at my inner thoughts. David was a big part of my life then and will always be in my prayers. 

David was an inspiration to me. He handled his physical disability with such courage and always in a positive attitude. It was difficult for me to see someone who had been so vibrant and active confined to a life that was so constrained but he lived his life without any complaint or regrets. He lived it to the fullest as long as his body could support him. I was so sad to hear of David’s passing and today I am writing this with such a mix of emotions. I know that he is in a better place where his body’s physical limits will no longer be a constraint but I am so sad that he has gone. Everybody who knows David loves him; he was a very special person. We all share in the sadness of this occasion and we have all lost a special part of our life.

Jonathan, sorry we could not make David's homegoing but my parent's health wouldn't allow it. 
 Even though we go through difficult times, it is comforting to know that we are sustained by our faith in Jesus and the present of His Spirit. Your family has been an important element in our life and we are grateful that God placed your family in our path. We will always cherish the memories that our families shared. 
 As you work through your grief, be kind to yourself and take things one day, one moment at a time. 
 Remember that others are thinking of you with with the deepest care and sympathy.

David, Jonathan, and I attended TMI at the same time. I Later worked for their Father Mr. Jack Morse at Joske's of Texas, fond memories of the whole family. My sympathies to the entire family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of David's death. Please accept my deepest sympathies. David played a very large part of my wonderful magical childhood. I have always carried the great memories of our childhood growing up on West Beverly Mae. Like the daily games we played such as football, capture-the-flag, cowboys and Indians and Army until way past the setting sun. Every Saturday morning we were at David's and Jonathon's watching "Flicka" and "Sky King". I also recall the many plays we wrote and performed in our barn as well as the circuses and "fake weddings". When we tired of the performances, we turned the barn into a bike repair shop and charged our friends a nickel to repair their bikes. We also built wooden go-carts and raced them down the "big hill". But my fondest memories are when David, Jonathon and my sisters and I rode our horses Cindy, Cochese and Stinger for hours and miles in the fields where the Medical Center now stands.
I will always remember David in this way.

Please accept our deepest sympathies. Ann and I knew David through our daughter Valerie while visiting her in San Antonio. David was a reader at Valerie's wedding here in Kansas City. One Christmas, Valerie and her friend Amy invited him to Kansas City. His hope was that he would see snow. Well we had 10" for one of the few White Christmas's we have had. It was a beautiful snowfall. David, my son Tim and I went up to Ft. Leavenworth and drove through the military cemetery and Fort Museum. I remember that David could look out through the snow and grave markers and spot the Medal of Honor winners. David, the cold, the snow and the precise white stone markers of the cemetery left a spiritual impression on us all. 

We enjoyed having David over for Christmas dinner. One thing that came out of it was that David found out that we grew turnips. So, we wound up sending David turnips spring and fall.

David was always the true Gentleman.

David was a remarkable person, always interested in others with a smile on his face. My prayers are with the family to lift and encourage you that David is in a better place, free from the body that held him back physically. God bless you all.

A very great person, you will never be replaced

Dear Morse Family, 
I just wanted to express my condolences. I attend church with Joe and Georgia Hurley. When Joe learned that I do visitation at the Alamo Heights Rehab, he asked if I might visit with David. Of course, I was happy to. David always surprised me at his upbeat attitude -- no matter how much pain he was experiencing. He always seemed content with his life. What a testimony to us who have never come close to what he dealt with on a daily basis, yet find it so easy to complain. What an impact he has had on our lives. May you take comfort in these memories.

I worked with David at Al Olson's office for many years. He was always positive and upbeat and fun to work with. He made light of his disability and had many, many "interesting" stories to tell about himself. There was always a new story. He was the first one to laugh about it. I remember the first thing he did each morning when he got to work was to open his Bible and read a passage before he started the day. It had taken hours for him to just to get dressed and get to work, but he was always positive, and his belief in God never changed. There will never be another David Morse. He was one of a kind. He will be missed. Blessings to David's family and friends.

I met "Moose" in the 1980's. We met at the Hill river house in Hunt. I was a close friend of Lola Skinner, almost like family to Moose David, as her brother,David Hill, had been Moose's dear friend from school years. I fell in love with his humor, generosity, and kindness. My children, Nathan and Alexis, then teenagers, thought Moose was the greatest. We saw him several times through the years and helped him get a ramp for his small house. I am sad to say that, since I had lost contact for awhile with Lola, I have not seen Moose in many years. I regret not being able to give him kindness and love in his last years, which I know were not easy ones. He is now with his beloved friend, David Hill, and David's father, Pappy Hill. He also is with my beloved son, Nathan, who I know was at the gates of heaven greeting his childhood hero. We will miss you, Moose. I hope to see you soon!

David's kind soul and heart always showed us the living meaning of courage. God bless a fine man.
