

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Theresa Nava, two stepsons, Victor Meer and Albert Meer, and six grandchildren: Leah, Lena, Lyla, and Luke Meer; and Maximillian and Sophia Meer. David was known for his kindness and sense of humor, which endeared him to all who knew him.
He is also survived by his brother Gabriel Nava (Carol), his sister Patricia L. Constantin (Daniel), and their children Jay and Magdalena Nava and Julianna Elia Burrus. Also, sister-in-law Ana Nava (Joe D. Nava), nephews/niece Alex (Brenna), Steve (Patricia), and Mariana Nava; grand-nephews and nieces Isabella, Cydney, Joey, and Sebastian.
David’s love extended beyond his family to his beloved pet dogs, who will also deeply feel his absence: Luke, Rusty, Remy, Goldie, George, Georgette, Georgo, and Geordi.
He is preceded in death by his former wife, Yupin Nava; father, Julian Nava and mother, Elia Rodriguez Nava; brothers, Joe D. Nava and Edward Nava; and Tia Emma Rodriguez.
David’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his country. Born and raised in San Antonio, he graduated from Holy Cross High School and Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. His commitment to service led him to be commissioned in the U.S. Navy, where he served two tours in Vietnam, sea duty on five Navy ships, and shore duty in Naples, Italy, and in the Pentagon. After his retirement as a Lieutenant Commander (O-4), he continued as a Federal Civil Service employee for the Military Sealift Command, and later at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). His time in the Navy was not only marked by his service but also by his pursuit of knowledge, earning a Master of Education from Boston University and completing the requirements for a second master’s degree in Secondary Education from George Washington University.
The Memorial Visitation, a time for friends and family to pay their respects, will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on, Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, 226 Cupples Rd., San Antonio 78237. This will be followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., a moment of prayer and reflection.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. The Procession will depart from the funeral home on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Memorial Mass to be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2623 Perez St., San Antonio 78207. Inurnment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio 78209.
