Born in Beeville, Texas, David was the seventh child born to Procopio Rodriguez, Jr. and Francisca Lara. He learned a strong work ethic from a very early age as he and his siblings were always helping their dad on a ranch.
David graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in December 1982, earning a Bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in Accounting. He then moved to San Antonio, where he worked for Ernst and Whinney. He passed all four parts of the CPA exam on his first attempt—an accomplishment that is quite rare. In 1986, David and Blanca spent a year abroad, working in the Ernst & Whinney offices in Caracas, Venezuela. After returning to Texas, David realized that his true passion was the law. In May 1991, he proudly graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He and Blanca made their way back to San Antonio, where he opened his own practice, the Law Office of David Rodriguez.
David was a compassionate, ethical, moral, highly intelligent, and self-motivated individual. His compassion and diligence were consistently evident throughout the 34 years of being a sole practitioner. He thrived on being an advocate for his clients.
David married his high school sweetheart, Blanca in 1983. He was a devoted and loving husband to Blanca, and an amazing father to Carlos and Christina. He loved golfing, running, and skiing. One of his greatest accomplishments was running the Capitol 10k in Austin 30 years in a row.
David had a unique way of making everyone around him feel heard and valued, a testament to his excellent listening skills. He would often say “God gave you two ears, and one mouth for a reason.” His jokes, always told with a spark in his eye, would light up a room, bringing laughter and joy to all. Above all, David was a man of deep faith, placing God at the center of his life. His belief guided him in all his actions, providing comfort and inspiration to those who knew him.
David is survived by his wife, Blanca Maria Rodriguez; and his children, Carlos Andres and Christina Raquel; his siblings, Alfredo Rodriguez, Dickie (Pam) Rodriguez, Enemencia Barrera, Gerardo (Lupe) Rodriguez, Gloria (Pedro) Gaytan, Irene Rodriquez, John (Belinda) Rodriguez, Oscar Rodriguez, Patricia (Albert) Hinojosa, and Raymond Rodriguez (Indra); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Procopio Rodriguez Jr., and Francisca Lara; and his siblings, Charlotte Fernandez, Mary Ellen Martinez, Mary Villarreal, Procopio Rodriguez III, and Tina Tapia.
Celebration of Life will take place on Monday November 17th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Community Bible Church at 2477 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. David kindly requested guests to wear white tops or blouses.
