

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dean Kirkpatrick announce his passing. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Norval “Bud” and Clorene Kirkpatrick who preceded him in death. Dean Kirkpatrick was a 1970 graduate of the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. A life-long, avocational historian of the Texas Revolution, the American Civil War, and World War II, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a licensed pilot. Professionally Dean held executive positions with the University of Houston, the Switzerland Alpines Professional Basketball Team in Geneva, Professional Veterinarians Drug and Supply Company, IBM (Top Gun), and Oracle (Certified Champion). Dean was a deeply loved and respected father and grandfather who lived in San Antonio, Texas. He often signed his best-selling book, The Alamo Story and Battleground Tour, in the Museum Shop at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. He and his book were recently featured on an Emmy nominated episode of Texas Country Reporter. He also recently completed his second book, The Other Rose of Texas. He was survived by his children, daughter Megan DiBartolo and her husband Giovanni, son Andrew Kirkpatrick and wife Eunha, and daughter Jessica Kirkpatrick. He was also grandfather to Giuliana DiBartolo, Liam, Lucas, and Logan Kirkpatrick. A candlelight memorial service will be held on Saturday September 27th, 2014 at 7:30 PM on the public sidewalk in front of the Alamo.
