Debra Lee Gonzales-Stepherson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 10, 2021. She was 43 years old and died in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 11, 1978, in Jourdanton, Texas, to Raymond and Janie Gonzales. Debra was very active and enjoyed working out at the gym, taking long bike rides with her sister Mary, and running marathons. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her great niece, Evelynn Grace. Debra loved blessing those in need and made it her mission to create a nonprofit in 2015 called Faith Bound Street Ministry, Inc. Her selfless acts of kindness were beyond measure. She was always thinking of others and giving to the less fortunate. Debra made sure that every single day someone was blessed with a "goody bag" of food and a Bible verse. Even throughout her most difficult moments, she never wavered in her faith and was a firm believer in Jesus Christ. She was a member of Community Bible Church located in San Antonio, Texas.
Debra was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Juan Salazar, paternal grandfather, Manuel Gonzales, aunt, Adelina Gonzales, and great uncle, Trinidad Gonzales. She is survived by her husband, Desmond Stepherson, her parents Raymond & Janie Gonzales, sisters, Martha Cunningham and her husband Stace, Mary Gonzales, JoAnn Oropeza and her husband Eddie, nieces, Marissa Cunningham, Kianna Oropeza, nephew, Steven Oropeza and his wife Ashlee, great niece, Evelynn Grace Oropeza, great nephew Luke David Ray Oropeza, mother & father-in-law Pat & Leon Stepherson, brothers-in-law Chauncey Stepherson, Leon Stepherson III and his wife Kristin, and Debras dogs, Zeke and Parker.
Debras favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 19:17 "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done." Thank you, Debra, for your big heart, all the laughs, and wonderful memories. You will be greatly missed. May you rest in peace.
The family would like to extend a big thank you to all her doctors, especially Dr. Beeram, as well as nurses and medical staff that cared for Debra throughout these last years of her life. We also appreciate everything the staff at Altus Hospice did to care for her in her last weeks.
