Derwin "Dee" Lee Bohne, Jr.

On February 1 1, 2022, Derwin "Dee" Lee Bohn Jr., loving husband and father to three children, passed away at the age of 64. Dee was born on March 28, 1957 in Chama, New Mexico to father Col. Derwin Lee Bohn Sr. and mother Jessie Irene Reece Bohn. His father was a member of the U.S. Air Force, which meant Dee and younger brother Kevin moved often as children. Dee lived in several cities across the United States, as well as Canada and England, before finally settling in San Antonio, TX in 1973. Dee was a graduate of Judson High School Class of 1975 and attended The University of Texas at San Antonio, where he earned both his BBA (1980) and MBA (1983) in Marketing and Finance. He remained a proud Rocket and Roadrunner throughout his life. Dee played soccer, rugby, football, tennis and was an avid fan of all sports. He was a trove of San Antonio history and a collector of fine art. He built a storied career in Brand Marketing, inventing the internationally popular sports drink "Spike" and local favorite soda "Cima Red", among many other achievements. Dee had two children, Corbin and Taylor, during his first marriage to Mary Szczepanski Bohn, before divorcing in 1996. Dee dearly loved Corbin and Taylor and made them a priority in his life, even when separated by distance. He later met his wife Ruth Perez Bohn, whom he loved very much and married on May 15, 1999. Ruth's daughter Manhattan became a cherished part of Dee's life and he considered her as his own daughter. Dee was a proud uncle and loved his nieces Nora and Lena and nephew William. Dee was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie and father, Derwin Sr. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Corbin and daughter-in-law, Megan; son, Taylor; daughter, Manhattan; brother, Kevin and sister-in-law, Natasa; nieces, Nora and Lena; nephew, William; former spouse, Mary and many more beloved family members and dear friends. He will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held at St. Anthony de Padua, 102 Lorenz Rd in San Antonio, on Monday, February 28th at 5:30pm. A rosary will follow at 6:30pm. A memorial mass will be held at the same location on Tuesday, March 1st at 10:30am.
