Devan Coulter Smith passed into eternal life on September 26, 2012 at the age of 55. He was born on June 29, 1957 to parents Lowell Edward and Norma Jean Smith in Austin, Tx. Devan had a passion for cycling, loved to go fishing, and always greeted the Texas Hill Country with open arms. The only Smith brother with a knack for drawing, his creativity was expressed through woodburning; he even sold some of his art in galleries across the United States. Devan was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his Daughters Crystal, Viviana, and Julia Jean “J.J.” Smith and their mother Julia Gaytan; Grandchildren Scarlet, Noah, and Chloe; brothers Dan Smith and Rob Smith; nephew Daniel, nieces Katie and Ellen, and his best friend Jim Bixby. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 5-9 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Tx, 78218. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 12 pm at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or Bike Texas at www.biketexas.org.
