Dolores Sylvia Guerrero passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in San Antonio on November 19, 1945, and was preceded in death by her parents Humberto and Dolores Flores and an infant daughter, Regina Elise Guerrero. She is survived by her sister Blanche F. Mora; sister, Teresa Ward and husband Virgil R. Ward; sister, Margarita F. Flores and husband Robert P. Flores; brother, Humberto L. Flores and wife Jeanne Flores. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores or "Cookie" as she was known to her family and friends was a graduate of the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico City where she earned a B.A. in English. She taught one year at Harlandale High School before returning to Mexico City. In 1976 she suffered a tragic accident and became a paraplegic. She was confined to a wheelchair for 27 years.
