

Dolores de Hoyos Mercado passed away April 17, 2013 at the age of 97. She was born on March 6, 1916 in San Buenaventura, Coahuila, Mexico. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Petra (Ancira) de Hoyos; brothers, Jesus, Juan and Felix Genaro de Hoyos; husband of 63 years, Teodoro V. Mercado; great granddaughter, Katherine Marie Mercado and great-great grandson, Kristian N. Barrera. She was a beautiful and loving mother and she will be dearly missed by her survivors, daughter Gloria M. Morin; son and daughter-in-law, Juan and Norma Mercado; daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Jose Roman; and sister, Antonia de Hoyos Gutierrez. She was blessed with and survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She helped her father raise her siblings and run his grocery store; and later worked as a sales lady at a department store before retiring. In her retirement, she traveled with her husband throughout the USA and Europe. A highlight of their travels was being in the audience of the Pope in Rome. The family wishes to thank the San Antonio Nurses Home Health Agency, Grace Hospice, her devoted caregiver, Pat Hernandez and loyal friend Yareli Trevino, both of whom she dearly loved. Rosary on Monday, April 22, at 7 pm, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. Mass on Tuesday, April 23, at 10:00 am, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery # 2.
