Domingo R. Cedillo, born on March 1, 1936, to Santos and Juanita Cedillo, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and vibrant spirit. Domingo was one of 13 children in his family, a bond that shaped him into the loving and devoted man he became.
At the young age of 18, Domingo joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country as a firefighter. His commitment to service continued after his military career, where he spent many years working at Guess Towel Uniforms before embarking on a long and respected career with Bexar County. There, he served under County Judge Tom Vickers and Commissioner Robert Lee. Domingo later advanced his education and training, taking on the role of Bexar County’s sole exterminator, a position he held with pride until his retirement.
Domingo is preceded in death by his beloved parents and several of his siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa G. Cedillo, and their children: Rita A. Gonzalez, (Manuel), Linda M. Martinez, (Carlos), Janet C. Hernandez, (Ricardo), and Don M. Cedillo, (Amy). He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a large extended family, including multiple brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews who will all miss him dearly.
Domingo will be remembered for his deep love for his family and his unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Known for his humor, generosity, and many talents, he touched the lives of all who knew him. Domingo’s passion for life was evident in everything he did- from coaching Little league and Senior league to officiating men’s and women’s softball games for many years.
Despite having limited formal education in his youth, Domingo earned his GED at the age of 50, demonstrating his relentless pursuit of self-improvement. In his later years, he continued to challenge himself by mastering new skills: learning to play the guitar at 70, sharping his billiards skill and perfecting the art of caricatures in his 80s. Domingo became a beloved figure at senior centers across San Antonio, where seniors eagerly sought him out to have their portraits drawn. He never missed a day of bingo or an opportunity to dress up for themed senior dances, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Domingo’s enduring passion for life was matched only by his devotion to the Dallas Cowboys, of whom he was undoubtedly the #1 Fan.
The Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, 226 Cupples Rd., San Antonio,TX 78237 followed by a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The Procession will depart from the funeral home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 11:15 a.m. for a 12:00 p.m. Mass of The Resurrection at St. James Catholic Church, 907 W Theo Ave, San Antonio, TX 78225. A Committal service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery,1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
Domingo R. Cedillo will be greatly missed, but his spirit, humor and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
