

Don J. Ferguson passed away on August 15, 2017 at age 80. He was born in Arkansas City, KS to Hubert W. and Naomia Ferguson. He grew up in La Marque, TX and graduated from La Marque High School in 1954. Immediately after high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served for 24 years. After retiring in 1979, he worked at Southwest Research Institute for 23 years, retiring as a Senior Engineering Technologist. During his career, he obtained advanced degrees in Criminal Justice and Procurement.
Don had many varied interests. He started skin diving as a teenager and became a scuba instructor. He also enjoyed motocross, sailing, kayaking, gardening, and watching NASCAR. In his spare time, he worked on building an Austin Healy replica. He will be remembered for his interest in many various subjects and as a great storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Pat Ferguson, daughter Jan, son Michael, daughter-in-law Elaine, and grandson Steven. Other survivors include siblings Donna Lester of Bryan, TX, Sandra Clegg of Santa Fe, TX, Francina Huskey (Sovola) of Alleyton, TX, Linda Williams of Bellville, TX and Wesley Ferguson (Diane) of Owatonna, MN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
