

Donald Paul Ashmore continued his journey with God at 10:54 a.m. on April 14, 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving wife of 57 years and his children where he had lived the last 31 years. He was born December 21, 1923 outside of Girard, Kansas to Verna and Alice (Scott) Ashmore and graduated from Crawford County Community High School in Cherokee, Kansas in 1941.He married Bobbie Jean (Simmons) Ashmore on October 1, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. He worked for Lear Jet, Boeing, Mooney Aircraft, and Fairchild Industries manufacturing aircraft his entire life. He was on the team that built the very first Lear Jet. He loved watching sports of any kind and was a fan of the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys. He especially loved college sports and looked forward to watching March Madness and the College World Series. He was also a highly skilled and competitive player of dominoes, wahoo, and cards. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ernest "Bud" Ashmore, and sisters, Bertha Thurston, Mildred Marchbanks, Thelma Tripp, Freda Imhof, Dorothy Jackson; and his daughter-in-law, Debbie Ashmore. Survivors include his wife; sons, Mark W. Warner of San Antonio, Donald Ashmore, Jr. of Abilene, and Tim Ashmore of Spring Branch; and daughter, Susan Ashmore of San Antonio; grandsons, Shawn Ashmore of Dallas, Kevin Ashmore of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Brent Ashmore of Abilene; granddaughters, Heather Ashmore of Berwick, Pennsylvania and April Ashmore of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two great grandsons; his sister Helen (Ruth) Sims; and numerous nephews and nieces. He will lie in state from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
