He is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Isabella Goodrich; sister, Mary Ann Goodrich Poindexter (husband Clayton); Henry Goodrich (having died in infancy); and Bob Goodrich (wife Martha).
While attending UT Austin, Don was a member of the spelunking “cave explorer” team. After his discharge from the Air Force, he owned a Mobil gas station. Thereafter, he worked in management for El Paso Natural Gas/Coastal & retired in 2002. He and Patsy took many, many cruises to all parts of the world and were a part of Royal Caribbean’s Diamond Plus Family.
Donald was a man who cherished his wife and family. Donald began his family life by marrying Patsy who was a widow with two small sons. He had been a groomsman in the wedding of Patsy and her now deceased husband. Soon thereafter, Don & Patsy welcomed three more bundles of joy to complete a family of five children. Don was always friendly and willing to offer a hand to help friends and strangers. The family spent many weekends water skiing and playing watersports on the Guadlupe River and its chain of lakes, as well as Lake LBJ in Kingsland, TX. He enjoyed owning several Mustangs, a favorite being a 1965 model. Ever the muscle car man, Don’s last car was a Dodge Charger with a large engine.
Don was well loved and will be greatly missed but will always remain in our hearts. The Family thanks all of the Management and Staff at Brookdale Kingsley Medical Center and Bloom Hospice Care, including Katie Reeves PA, for their care, concern, and thoughtfulness. Many thanks also to neighbors in the Del Webb Community.
The Family suggests that donations be given in Don’s name to the charity of their choice.
