

Don dedicated his life to his family and friends. This year would be his and Holly’s 50th wedding anniversary in September. He loved spending time with his kids, Jesse and Tessa, and their friends.
Don held a Bachelor’s of Theology from Liberty University. He served in the US Air Force from 1973 to 1980. He taught computer science at Pensacola Junior College and University of Texas San Antonio. He retired from his 30 year career in the Naval research department as an electronic technician.
Don lived in the beautiful Texas Hill country since 1999, in the home he and Holly built. He volunteered in the Rim Rock Ranch neighborhood HOA as President, and other positions, for ~20 years.
Don had several hobbies and interests, but within each of them was his service to God, his family, and his friends.
Don enjoyed umpiring high school and college baseball, and refereeing football. He was the treasurer of the umpiring organization.
He loved working alongside his son with their business, Hatcher Forge and Leather.
Don was a life long musician. He started drum lessons at 6 years old. He spent much of his time playing music with family and friends. He was in several different bands and music projects over the years. Music was his worship to God. He played drums in several local churches.
Don volunteered much of his time to serve those in need. Whether that was a helping hand, an ear to listen, a donation, or organizing Thanksgiving meals for the hungry; he was eager to support.
Don fought for his life battling cancer and related complications. Don passed away after ringing in the 2023 New Year with his wife, son, daughter, and son-in-law at his house in Bulverde, TX. At midnight 1/1/2023, Don said, “it’s going to be a good year.”
Don was loved and cherished by many. His essence of wisdom and service will continue within all who had the opportunity to know him.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, Aileen and Fred Hatcher. Donald is survived by his wife, Holly Hatcher; son Daniel Jesse Hatcher; daughter, Tessa Price (Dustin); and brother, Gary Hatcher (Sharon).
