He was born July 1, 1929, in La Coste, Texas, to Robert and Margaret Mangold.
Donald retired from Southwest Research, after 28 years of dedicated service, as Director of Research. He sang in the Holy Spirit Chorale, of which he was president for 30 years. An avid gardener, Donald loved working in his yard and was interested in all types of plants and flowers. He was a proud Longhorn, as he graduated from the University of Texas with a doctorate in chemistry. He also enjoyed collecting Lionel trains.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Shirley Mangold; daughter, Carolyn Mangold; son, Richard Mangold; brothers, Ivan and Sylvan Mangold; and sister, Mildred Tondre.
