Doniece married Jim Thomas James September 17, 1966. Jim stated their marriage worked because of their combined love for life and each other. Fifty-three years together brought them adventures and laughter.
Doniece was born on February 20, 1944 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Clariece and Donald Schott. She was active in her community growing up including membership in Campfire Girls and the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She attended Cameron College and Oklahoma State University. After marriage, she was employed as a civil servant at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK, Dept. of Agriculture in Brownsville, and a paralegal at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. She felt passionately about her role as a Victim Witness Liaison.
Speaking of passion, Doniece prided herself on creating safe and supportive space for family and friends. She filled her home with people, memories and most of all love and laughter. One of her closest friends describes her as "the life of the party." Her home was always filled with life. One example of the exuberance that filled her home was the sheer amount of greenery. Doniece loved gardening and was an outdoor enthusiast.
Doniece is survived by husband, Jim James and her two daughters, Laurissa Grinnell and husband David Grinnell, Teressa Lowrance and husband, John Christopher Lowrance, two grandsons, Johnathan and Sean Lowrance and numerous extended family and friends.
The family will honor her wish for cremation.
