Donna Ann Diliberto, 58, passed away on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas, with family by her side. She fought a long, hard and courageous battle against triple negative breast cancer. Her outlook, positivity and faith during this time was admired by all who knew her and was inspiring to say the least.
Donna was born on December 26, 1964, to Bruce B Grasmuck and Christa Schimpf Grasmuck, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She grew up in Fremont, California until she was 13 years old and then moved to Bay City, Texas, where she finished her high school years. She graduated from Bay City High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in Victoria, Texas. After graduating from college, she went on to teach high school math for 15 years. In 2005 she changed careers and moved to Iraq, working as a government contractor. When she moved back to the states, she continued contract work and lived in Virginia & Illinois. While living in Illinois, she met her husband Joe and later they moved to Spring Branch, Texas, where they resided when she passed.
Donna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, entertain family and friends, and spend time with her grandchildren. She and Joe enjoyed traveling near and far and their favorite pastime was enjoying their pool and outdoor island kitchen in their backyard. She was very active with the Catholic church in Illinois and became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Blanco, Tx. She had a heart of gold, and her smile was contagious.
Donna lived a full life in her short 58 years with us. She raised three children at home, and you might even say she raised a few more through her outreach in teaching. She braved working overseas in a war zone and never once batted an eye while there. She fulfilled her travel dreams internationally and domestically with her family and friends. She loved to volunteer her time with St Clare of Assisi and was the first to raise her hand to help cook for their retreats. If there was an event to plan, you could count on Donna to provide the homecooked meal. If you ever had an opportunity to taste one of her meals, you could see why her offer to cook was always accepted.
Donna is preceded in death by her father, Bruce B Grasmuck.
Donna is survived by her husband, Joe Diliberto, mother Christa Grasmuck, brother Dennis Grasmuck, brother Michael Grasmuck Gardner (wife Joann Gardner), daughter Nichole Foote Harmon (husband David Harmon), daughter Kristin Foote Chawdhary (husband Omar Chawdhary) and son Randy Sparks (fiance Tiffany Ortiz), grandchildren Keegan Vargas (14), Annie Sparks (6), Hagan Harmon (4), Elora Sparks (1) & Zain Chawdhary (6 mths).
