A sister, mother, grandmother and loving wife, Joan enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and was known for her wit and big smile. Known for her ease in frequent conversation, she truly made a person feel welcome in her presence.
She graduated from Brackenridge High School, attended Hunter School of Art and San Antonio College. She met her sweetheart, James "Jim" Thompson, at the Bun and Barrel and they were married in 1959. After raising two children, she worked at Sears until she found her calling as a floral designer. As a true San Antonian, she loved the San Antonio Spurs!
Joan and Jim attended St. Stephen's Methodist Church for many years. Even after the church closed, they continued the fellowship with their life-long friends for fourth Friday at local restaurants. Joan also enjoyed her time with the ladies playing Bunco.
