Doris C. Lane was born in Shreveport, LA on July 9, 1912 to John Woodson Carrier and Allen Murff, and passed away in San Antonio, TX on April 27, 1913 at the age of 100. She was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a registered nurse during WW II in the Philippines and New Guinea. Everywhere she and her husband, Russell were stationed, during his Air Force career, she found the opportunity to help, by working in hospitals and nursing homes. She worked in crippled children’s hospitals in Taiwan and Guam. Doris was preceded in death by her brother, John Sumter Carrier. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Russell S. Lane, Sr.; step-son, Russell S. Lane, Jr. and his wife, Jean; grandchildren, Tim Lane, Chris Reeves, Russ Lane, Suzanne Lucas, Branden Doiron; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Travis, Charles, Tyler, Garrett, Morgan and Clara. Graveside services will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
