Dorothy English Carpenter went to be with her Lord Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the age of 90. She was born on January 30, 1922 to Allison Embrey and Dora Frances (Bowdoin) Cone in San Marcos, Texas. Dorothy worked at Kelly Field as a Junior Aircraft Mechanic during WWII, returning to work in 1951, and retiring in 1983. She received a certificate of outstanding achievement from Civil Engineering in 1980. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years, a Past Matron of the Logos Chapter, and a member of the Wimodausis Chapter. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Claude English; husband Robert Carpenter; son Claudie Jr.; daughter Judy Burr; and her 8 siblings. She is survived by her daughters Margie Burr and husband Barry, and Patsy Roberts and husband Joe; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 1pm-3pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 12 pm at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at San Fernando III Cemetery.
