She was born to Carl and Dora Hatch Power in Edna, TX and moved to San Antonio in 1925. She attended Main High School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson H S. Dorothy graduated from Our Lady of the Lake College receiving a BA in Education.
During the war, she worked in the finance dept. at Kelley Field. She later taught elementary school in San Antonio until her retirement in 1976. Dorothy married Kennedy Dodds in 1979. They traveled the world extensively until his death.
There will be a private interment at Mission Park South. Memorials may be made to University Presbyterian Church, 300 Bushnell Ave. San Antonio, TX 78212.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Clifton Power.
She is survived by her brother Carlton Hester Carroll Power of Memphis, TN, nieces Patricia Underwood of Orange Beach, AL, Sandra Sam Insalaco of Lakewood, WA, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to give a heartfelt thank you to her caregiver Hilda Reyes for the loving care and support she provided throughout Dorothy's final years.
