

Earl Harry Childs was born in Uvalde, Texas, on December 2, 1939 to Lolette Copple and Harry Childs, and passed away on November 27, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Childs, his sister, Fay Honaker, brother, Col Jimmie Wane Childs (wife Linda), his daughter, Kimberley Cobb, son-in-law, Shawn Cobb, daughter, Kristal Childs, grandson, Zane Cobb, granddaughter, Zoe Cobb, and numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Daisy Mae.
Earl, who was known by family, friends and coworkers, as "Chile", retired after 35 years with the Texas Cooperative Inspection Program, where he was a Supervisor and Keyman. He had many lifelong friends from those years of service.
Chile was a working cowboy having started working on a ranch at the age of 12. He graduated from Sul Ross University with a major in Animal Husbandry and a minor in Biology. During this time, he also rode in multiple rodeos at Sul Ross, Laredo and Uvalde.
Chile was an outdoorsman, excelling in fishing and hunting and was an avid golfer.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Colonial Gardens and Remarkable Hospice for their compassionate care. Also, a special thank you to Chickie Backhaus and Russell Gainer with the Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group at The Haven, for their never ending help and support for Karen during this very difficult time. The Church service will be December 12th at Live Oak First Baptist Church 11560 Toepperwein Road, Live Oak TX, 78233. Reception will follow the service at 11:00 am with a light lunch.
