

Edith Windham Huebner, age 90, of San Antonio passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Edith, a seventh generation Texan, was born on January 5, 1925 near Brownwood, Brown County, Texas, to Ina and Roger Windham. She was the oldest of three children.
Her younger brother James (Bud) and younger sister Bobbie preceded her.
World War II and a Civil Service appointment as Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic brought her to San Antonio in 1942. She spent four years at Kelly Field repairing planes damaged in combat. From 1946 until 1969, she changed careers and worked in the Title business, holding positions of Clerk Typist, Secretary, Escrow Officer and Branch Manager with Stewart Title Company.
In 1969, she changed careers and accepted a Vice-Presidency with Highland Park State Bank, which later became Texas Commerce Bank. She held the positions of Commercial and Real Estate Loan Officer, Personnel Manager, Manager of Real Estate Lending and Director.
In 1972, she was appointed to serve on the board of Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the first woman to serve on that board. Between 1979 and 1981, she served on the boards of San Antonio Local Development Company, Inc. and City of San Antonio Industrial Development Authority, serving terms as Secretary, Vice-Chairman and President. In 1982, she resigned her position of Senior Vice President and Director of Texas Commerce Bank to marry her second husband, Merl Huebner. After his death in 1987, she was Trust Administrator and Accountant for several family trusts.
She had two daughters, three step-sons, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Her activities revolved around grandchildren, great-grandchildren, genealogy and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her husband Merl Huebner and daughter Cherlyn Crider.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Richards; step sons, Dennis Huebner, Douglas Huebner and family, Kenneth Huebner and family; grandchildren, Roger & Kenda Crider, Robert and Lisa Crider, DanCee and Stefan Bowers, Randy and Jenny Crider, Brandi Richards, and great grandchildren, Winston, Wyatt, Kaitlyn, Kendall, Jackson, Quinn, Caleb, Dylan and Kennedy. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Porter Loring North.
