

Eduardo M. Ramirez, known affectionately as Eddie to his friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 22, 2025, in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Born on November 16, 1935, also in San Antonio, Eddie was a man whose warm presence and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Eddie's early life was marked by a commitment to education and service. A proud graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, he furthered his studies at San Antonio College before dedicating himself to serving his country in the United States Air Force. His passion for knowledge continued throughout his life, as evidenced by his participation in continuous education programs in computer operations and analytics at Kelly Air Force Base.
After serving his country, Eddie embarked on a distinguished 25-year civil service career at Kelly AFB, where he made significant contributions as Chief of the Equipment Management Support Branch for Communications and Computer Systems. After retirement he spent much of his time contributing to various community projects, a testament to his commitment to helping his community and to his faith.
Eddie was a man who cherished his family above all. He leaves behind a loving legacy that includes his sons, Edward Ramirez Jr. (Cynthia), and Eugene Gongora (Lorra); adored grandchildren, Jesse Edward Ramirez, Carissa Vela (David), Aiden Ramirez, Michael Gongora (Jackie), Erica Gongora, Nathan Gongora (Kristle); great-grandchild, Sophia Gongora; sisters, Anita Ramirez and Bertha Teer; sister-in-law, Lola Garcia; brother-in-law, Joe Garcia; along with numerous nieces and nephews, will remember him as a pillar of strength and kindness. Eddie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Millie Ramirez; his parents, Jesse and Marina Ramirez; brothers, Macario Ramirez, Jesse Ramirez, Jr. and Daniel Ramirez; and cherished great-granddaughter, Makenzie Gongora
Beyond his professional and family life, Eddie had a zest for life that was contagious. An avid golfer, he could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game and the camaraderie of his fellow players. His home was a hub of joy, where he loved to host social gatherings for friends and family. He found pleasure in serving his place of worship, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, organizing and participating in numerous functions that benefited his community.
Those who knew Eddie will remember him as a loving, kind, and friendly man. His generous spirit and genuine concern for others made him a beloved figure in his community. As we bid farewell to Eduardo "Eddie" Ramirez, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and a touch of grace. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Rosary will take place at 10:45 a.m., on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 157 Camino Santa Maria, San Antonio, Texas with a Funeral Mass to follow. Father Neville O’Donohue will officiate.
Inurnment will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas.
