He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ernesto Cortez, father, Edward Cortez and brother, Michael Andrew Cortez.
He is survived by his mother, Maricela Caffey and step-father, Robert Caffey; wife, Michelle Valenzuela; his two daughters, Lorianne Sanchez (Eliazar) and Emerale Cortez; step-children, Gabriel, Jeremy, Robert, and Santiago; brother, David Cortez; grandson, Cassius Rodriguez and numerous members of extended family and friends.
