

He was born on April 6, 1921, in Richmond, VA, to Samuel Roundtree and Jennie Farmer Jordan.
He graduated from George Washington H.S. in Danville, VA and attended the University of Alabama on a full football/basketball scholarship. In 1942, he joined the US Army Air Corps, the predecessor of the US Air Force. Edward spent the last year of WW II as a prisoner of war, after being shot down over Germany. He fought in the Korean War and flew on the last bombing mission of the war.
He went back to college and graduated from Florida State University. Edward served in the Strategic Air Command and retired from the Air Force in 1964. He had a second career with the Texas Welfare Department, then with the Surgeon General of the Army at Ft. Sam Houston.
Edward was a member of the Jamestown Society and was looking forward to celebrating the 400th Anniversary of Jamestown, VA settlement in May 2007. He was also a member of The Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia, The Order of the Daedalians, The Confederate Air Force, The Quiet Birdmen, The Ancient Planters, and The Scottish Society of San Antonio.
He was an avid pilot, tennis player, basketball player and joined the TR3 Club after rebuilding a 1960 TR3.
A wonderful husband, father and a brilliant mathematician, Edward lived by a code of the highest ethical and moral standards. His honesty was an inspiration to all who knew him and his love of dogs was legendary.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Mitchell Jordan; daughter, Jennifer; grandchildren, Kellie Marie, Paul III and Jordan Mitchell Mery; son, Edward Earl, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Janice Doud Jordan; grandchildren, Stuart Ashley and Thomas Wyatt Jordan; grandchildren, Gabriel Davis, Lisa and Brett Hartig; and great-grandson, Trent Austin Jordan.
