With deepest hearts beyond words, we announce the passing of our beloved Eduardo Medina Martinez, lovingly known to so many as “Pops,” who peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on January 31, 1957, and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Eduardo leaves behind a legacy built on unconditional love, unwavering faith, sacrifice, and incredible strength.
Pops was the kind of man whose love could be felt without a single word being spoken. No matter how tired, sick, or burdened he may have been, he never stopped showing up for the people he loved. He spent much of his life battling illness, yet even in his hardest moments, he carried himself with resilience, dignity, strength and faith that never wavered. He fought quietly, courageously, and faithfully every single day.
A hardworking man throughout his life, Eduardo dedicated many years to carpentry. Through his work, he built more than wood and walls he built a life centered around providing for and caring for his family. His hands carried the marks of years of hard work, sacrifice, and devotion, and everything he did was done with love and purpose.
To know Eduardo was to know what true love looked like. He devoted his life to his family, raising his children with endless love and sacrifice, and later helping raise his grandchildren with the same gentle strength and care. His family was his entire world. There was never a day that passed where he did not make sure the people he loved knew exactly how deeply they were cherished. Whether through his words, prayers, guidance, or simply his presence, Pops made everyone around him feel safe, seen, and loved.
His faith in God was the foundation of his life. Pops wore his faith not only in words, but in the way he lived, loved, forgave, and endured. Through every hardship and every storm, he remained faithful to the Lord, continuously encouraging and teaching those around him to trust God no matter the circumstances. Even while carrying his own pain, he continued pouring love, wisdom, and hope into others.
Eduardo is survived by his loving mother, Adelita Medina Hernandez; his brother, Joe Martinez III; his sisters, Nancy Hernandez and Christina Hernandez; his beloved children, Pearl Martinez and Mark Martinez; along with his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. The love he gave them will continue to live on through generations.
He is now reunited in Heaven with his father, Joe G. Martinez; his sister, Sylvia Martinez; and his brothers, Jerry Martinez, Frank Martinez, and Angel Hernandez.
Although our hearts ache deeply in his absence, we take comfort in knowing that Pops is finally at peace, healed, and resting in the arms of the Lord he served so faithfully. The lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the strength he carried will forever remain woven into the hearts of his family.
There will never be another love like his, another strength like his, or another man quite like our Pops. He will be missed beyond measure and loved for all eternity.
We love you Pops, always.
Please wear white in honor of celebrating the life of our beloved Eduardo Medina Martinez.
