He was born in Springfield, Missouri on December 12, 1929, the son of Harvey Lee and Frances Bogner Moore. He was an exemplary baseball player all growing up and was drafted to the Philies organization. After 2 years of minor league baseball, he went back to college and earned a degree in Chemistry from Drury University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation he went to work for Monsanto Chemical Company in St. Louis, Mo. He was drafted and spent 2 years in the Army, stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. The General at the base in Tokyo had a baseball team so when he learned of Ed’s baseball talent, he kept Ed there to help with the team and work in the lab. Very appropriate for the chemist.
After 2 years he was discharged and went back to Monsanto Chemical in St. Louis. Mo. He proposed to Barbara at Christmas in 1954 and they married June 19, 1955. He went on to earn a master’s in chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis. His entire working career was spent with Monsanto.
He lived in St. Louis until 2019 when he and Barbara moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to family members. He enjoyed golf, travel, staying connected to his baseball buddies, and watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball. He enjoyed his sweets most of all.
His wife predeceased him in 2020. He is survived by his three sons and their families. Mark and Mimi Moore and their children Alex, Kevin, and Callie of Denver, Co.; David and Cheryl Moore of San Antonio, TX and their children Tom and wife Katrina of San Antonio, TX and Kristin and husband William of Ft. Worth, TX; Tim Moore of San Francisco, CA and his children Erin and husband Mitch of Oakland, CA and Shannon of Oakland, CA; Cousin Jack Delo and his wife Sherry and their children Stacey and Carrice of Berkley, Ca.
