Eddie proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy; he carried such pride in having been a Sailor. His sense of duty and honor continued long after his service to his country ended. So much so, that he worked as a representative of the US Census Bureau until the time of his death.
Eddie was preceded in death by his daughter, Aimee D. Rodriguez, his parents Guadalupe and Angelita Rodriguez and his sister Yolanda Bundick. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie "Ollie" Rodriguez, his partner of 58 years. Together, they created a legacy of love that will continue to live on through their children and grandchildren. Eddie was a devoted father to Gina (Leonardo) Fajardo, Michael E. Rodriguez, Aimee D. Rodriguez and Michael Sommers whom he affectionately considered his youngest son. He was also the best Papa to his grandchildren, Nicholas, David (Mary), Kobe, Diego and Julian. His wife, children and grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of his unwavering support and guidance and the memories of his wisdom and the quiet strength he provided.
Eddie was an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs, and watching the games was more than a pastime - it was a way for him to connect with his friends and family. He proudly served as an Usher for the Spurs for many years. Above all though, Eddie's favorite role was being a Papa. His eyes would light up with joy and pride whenever he spoke of his grandchildren and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
As we say goodbye to Eddie, we celebrate a life well-lived - a life filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of a man who was truly one of a kind.
