Edward William Schmidt, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, in San Antonio. He was born in Galveston, TX on October 16, 1924, and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years and our mother, Marjorie Carolyn Zuehl Schmidt; his parents, George and Willie Schmidt and his brother, Col. George Schmidt, Jr. Survivors include his two sons, Larry Edward Schmidt and wife, Diane of Spring, TX, Robert Alan Schmidt and Yvonne Martinez of San Antonio; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Schmidt of Dallas and first cousins and their husbands, Marilyn Hyman (Andy) of South Carolina, Barbara Parker (Chuck) and Janet Sudduth (Preston) of Virginia.
Edward was employed for 35 years by the City Water Board of San Antonio (now SAWS), retiring in 1988 as Budget Administrator. He was a very kind man, stubborn at times (a family trait), a wonderful chef and lover of the arts & music, having tried his hand at all of them. He was a particularly gifted oil painter. His memory, teachings and legacy will be cherished and remembered by his family, friends and retired co-workers at the CWB.
We want to thank Ted, Jill and Gloria of Heart to Heart Homecare and Marcel and Roxy of Cornerstone Home Care for the care and kindness shown to our father.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Burial Park North, 20900 IH 10 West.
