Elaine Joyce Clooney Whitehead

She was born on July 20, 1930 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Amanda Adeline Wiley and George Harold Clooney. Elaine graduated from St. Charles Academy, Lake Charles, LA in 1946 and later from St. Mary's University, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1968 with a degree in Home Economics. Elaine was a military spouse for 30 years, travelling and making home wherever the U.S. Army moved the family. She was proud of her Irish heritage and being from Lake Charles, LA. She loved her "Clooney" family dearly and we all find peace that they are together once more. With her husband, Jimmy, by her side, she fought a brave battle for two years against the ravages of Alzheimer's. Now, she has her memories and peace in God's arms. No more struggling to remember. We love you and will miss you.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Emma Jane Goodrich; grandfather, Capt. James Clooney; sisters, Dorothy Clooney Kerr, Betty Gwyn Bracken and Nanette Lola Clooney Edwards. Elaine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Col. Jimmy Lee Whitehead, US Army (Retired); children, Terry Kathryn Harris of San Antonio and Rebecca Leigh Watkins Martin and husband, Michael of Bulverde, TX; grandchildren, Lindsay Elaine Richard and her husband, Michael Richard, Jaclyn Watkins Smith and her husband, Jared Smith of Dallas, TX, Christopher Ryan Harris of San Antonio, Andrew Jordan Harris and his wife Alexandra W. Harris of Ft. Worth, TX; great-grandchild, Carys Everly Richard; cousins, Ernest F. Clooney II of Lafayette, LA, James Ray Clooney Jr. of Lake Charles, LA and Barbara Stevenson Levine of Potomac, MD.
