

Elias Cancino, age 63 went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 3, 2016. He was born on May 26, 1952 to Francisco H. Cancino and Irene G. Cancino in Mathis, Texas. He was the youngest of eight children.
Elias grew up in Knolle Jersey Farms and attended Sandia and Orange Grove School. His family moved to Palacios, Texas in 1966. Where he graduated from Palacios High Schools. He attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 1988.
Elias never married, he devoted his life helping other people's children as an educator. His most memorable experiences were his 12 years as an English High School Teacher in the state of Washington. Most of the students had trouble with drugs and the law. He had many success stories. His students nicknamed him, "Mr. Can't Say No" because he would do almost anything for his students.
Elias is survived by Daniel (Gladys) Cancino of Cuero, TX, Pedro (Sylvia) Cancino of Corpus Christi, TX, Alicia (Walter) Welnhofer of Elmwood Park, Illinois, Adan Cancino of Mathis, TX and Ruben (Aurora) Cancino of Lake Jackson, TX.
He loved the Lord and spent his life serving others. He was a joy to be with. He will be missed by his 15 nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Elias has a servant's heart.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Primera Iglesia Bautista Church, 726 N. State Hwy 359, Mathis, TX 78368.
