Dr. Elias Jurado Lorenzana, beloved Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend was called to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 79 while surrounded by his loved ones.
Elias was born in Catbalogan, Samar, Philippines. As a self-motivated academic with a passion for learning, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Medicine at Southwestern University in Cebu, Philippines. He then came to the United States to further pursue his career in medicine and fulfill the American Dream. After already completing his internship in the Philippines, he completed a second internship in Chicago at Columbus-Cabrini Health. He went on to complete his residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in Physical Medicine and Rehab.
During his residency, he met the love of his life, Corrine Estala. Together they created a beautiful family and shared a loving relationship of nearly 44 years. Never separated and always looking out for one another, they were a model couple to all those who had the pleasure of knowing them. During the course of his career, Elias served as an Emergency Medicine and Family Practice physician at multiple locations. Continuously driven and frequently working seven days a week, he ultimately reached his clinical goal of starting his own practice in 1989. He was a man of love and service. Throughout his career, he not only saved lives, but also helped thousands of patients achieve a higher quality of life. He was quietly proud and always humble.
Elias had many passions including painting, traveling, gardening, and business. He was a talented artist who graced many walls with his beautiful paintings. One of his greatest passions, however, was his love for his family. Leading by example, he taught commitment, discipline, patience, generosity, and kindness. He nurtured meaningful relationships and his qualities extended out to all those blessed to know him. He is greatly missed and will forever be in our hearts.
