

Elida was reunited with her beloved husband of 52 years Alonzo Guzman. She is preceded in death by her parents Julio and Manuela, siblings, Jesus Cantu, Oscar Cantu, Genevieve Garcia, Maria Pina, Julio Cantu Jr., Adolfo Cantu and Guadalupe Cantu.
She is survived by her four sons. Dr. Alonzo Guzman (Maria), Edward (Betty), Gerard (Eva) and Ronald (Julie). Grandchildren Jennifer Rodriguez (Carlos), Alonzo Robert (Tiffany), Lauren, Andres, Edward Jr. (Jenni), Eric (Mariya), Gregory (Savannah), William, Xavier, John, Annmarie, and Marianne. Great grandchildren: Isabella, Christian, Madelyn, Alonzo James, Landon, Emma, Luciana, Octavio, Hannah, Sophia, Mila, Margot, Rachel, Bethany, Caleb, Shelby, Nicole and Adriel.
Elida was a teachers aide for many years at Brewer Elementary and Storm Elementary and retired from San Antonio Independent School District. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed reading novels and doing cross word puzzles. She also enjoyed sewing Christmas stockings for her sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and had also quilted several blankets for the family. She volunteered her services at many of her sons school activities and church activities. She loved playing bunco and was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and a regular at the Good Samaritan Senior Center. She had fun playing bingo and loved participating in the arts and crafts activities at the center.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Dominguez, Dr. Hector VillaSenor, Guiding Light Hospice (Rebecca Whitcomb, Amy Drake, Ashley Bukhari) and McCullough Hall Nursing Center nurses and staff.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Porter Loring Mortuary off McCullough Ave.
