Liz was a phenomenal individual in my life during a period of severe illness.  Her personality was such a lift to me, and her skills as an OT helped me back into the real world.  I am so sorry that she is not contributing further to this world.   Ruth Stewart

What to say, balancing grief with a life celebration. Liz would choose a celebration any day. It was so easy to be your friend! We worked together as peers not as an assistant / supervisor for over 13 years.  I met you in March 2001, at Amber Oaks, you enabled me to keep a job in rural Hondo to Pearsall route, because on a “Saturday,” you would come and sign my supervision notes, 50 miles each way! Going out to lunch with Liz was hilarious, she would order, but then see what you had and wanted a sample. What a great “metaphor” for her life, take a little from each other’s plate, sharing joy and kindness along the way. We created an “L2 Club”, “Liz & Lori” so on a Saturday we would have mandatory stress reduction meetings, coffee, lunch or watching our dogs play in the back yard.   “See you later my dear friend”.

My sincere condolences to Liz’s family.  Liz always expressed love of her mate and her family. She had a calm, organized and disciplined way of working. She would get exasperated at times at work but you could hardly tell!  She handled it maturely and gracefully.  She was a team player through and through. She was funny, curious about life, patient, respectful and warm hearted.

I worked with Liz at Embrace.  Met her for the 1st time at a patient home as she was "observing" :)  Liz was immediately wonderful! She is loved dearly by all of her patients - who call her a friend.  I knew her briefly, but it feels much longer.  She is missed deeply.

I had the privilege and pleasure of having Liz in my life during my "Abilene years" of '99-'02. I remember her as beautiful (inside and out), strong, dedicated to her daughters, and lots of fun! The best part of Abilene for me was the group of amazing women friends that I bonded with and was inspired by, and Liz was an integral part of that. We rang in Y2K together! (photo attached). My heartfelt condolences to her family, loved ones, and all whose lives she touched. She made a difference in this world, and her impact rippled out to many.

In 2009, I had the pleasure of working with Liz, not necessarily in the traditional medical setting during my pain fellowship, but rather in the home of one of our mutual geriatric veteran patients, Janet. Somehow this mutual deep caring of Janet brought Liz and me together in a way that is hard to describe but propelled us to be like extended family for our patient.   No requirements of our job—just felt right.  Liz would be so incredibly thoughtful and find ways to brighten her patient’s life, including taking Janet to a July 4th celebration that meant so much to her. Of course, Liz’s enthusiasm brought so much light, smiles and laughter to everyone around her.   My husband Corey and I enjoyed her and her family so much that we couldn’t help but stay in touch over the years and visit from time to time despite living out of town.   These pictures are from a dinner in San Antonio with a variety of our friends that she met. But no one is a stranger to her—she was the most welcoming and warm to any soul in front of her.  I know that Janet and Liz are both in heaven smiling and looking over all of us.

I am still in shock but wanted to give my most deepest condolences. I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming  one of her friends at work and even when I didn’t work there anymore, we would get together to share a meal. The picture you picked was HER! I know sometimes we take lead way when someone passes to say only the nice thing about them but that is not Liz. She truly was special,  selfless, caring and when I would get negative about something or someone she would stay quiet and redirect me to the positive in the situation and or the person.  I will truly miss you my friend.

Liz used to tell me how happy she was in her life.  She would tell me she had a fulfilling job, she was madly in love and had a wonderful family.   She lived a joyous life and I will always be glad for her presence and her beautiful soul.

Liz was an caring OTR , a terrific co-worker and a beautiful person. She was interested in everyone and everything. She embraced change with a positive spirit, whether a computer software system change or Medicare billing requirement.   I am sorry I can’t be there Monday the 22 but if I could be there I would wear colorful rubber rain boots in her honor !!!
