

Elizabeth Carson Rupe died Tuesday, January 10 at her home in Bulverde, TX after a more than two-year battle with colon cancer. She was born March 19, 1972 in Hendersonville, NC, to Susan and George Carson II and grew up in Winston-Salem, NC. She attended Winston-Salem schools and the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. She graduated in 1992 cum laude with honors in chemistry from Williams College in Williamstown, MA.
After a year in Raleigh, NC, working for the Chemical Industry Council of North Carolina, she moved to San Antonio, TX. She taught biology, mathematics, technical theatre, and other subjects at TMI - The Episcopal School of Texas, for eight years before joining Harcourt (now Pearson) in 2001, where she worked in educational test development, primarily science content development.
She married Allan McClellan Rupe, who teaches art at TMI, in 1995. They have three sons: Keith (12), Simon (8), and Isaac (6). She is also survived by her parents, George and Susan Carson of Winston-Salem, and sisters, Elinor C. Ramey (Cayce) of Falls Church, VA, and Julianna L. Carson of Winston-Salem.
She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in San Antonio, and enjoyed hiking, theater, travel, reading, the mountains and the beach.
