Ellen E. Austin, age 86, of San Antonio died August 10, 2002. Her husband, William Boyd Austin, preceded her in death on April 11, 1988, after 54 years of marriage. Ellen was born in Gardendale, Texas and lived most of her life in San Antonio. She was an energetic homemaker who was very involved with her family and enjoyed traveling and entertaining family and friends during the holidays, especially Christmas. Her home was always full of welcoming warmth and was the familiar gathering place for many, many years. She was an active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Texas Chapter No. 35 O.E.S., N.A.R.V.R.E., and the Girl Scouts of America/Silver Trefoil. She will be missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Ellen Crowe of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Kathleen Dawn James and her husband John of San Antonio, Texas, four grandchildren, Eric Crowe and wife Michelle of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dawn Crowe of Dallas, Texas, Megan James, and Cody James of San Antonio, Texas; one great grandson, Quillan Crowe of Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister, Lynn Warlick and husband Darwin of Granbury, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
