Eloise Tunnell was born in Quitaque, TX, on July 10, 1930, to Clyde and Agnes Tunnell. She grew up in Quitaque, TX, and moved to Silverton, TX, in 1947. Eloise married Donald Weast in 1947, who died in August, 1950. From this union, a son, Donald Dee, was born. She married William J. (Jack) Strange in 1952 and they lived in Silverton until Jack retired from The First State Bank of Silverton. Jack and Eloise were members of the Methodist Church of Silverton.
Eloise and Jack relocated to Lubbock, TX, in 1995, to enjoy their retirement years. While there, they were members of the United Methodist Church. Eloise was a wonderful cook and enjoyed very much sharing that joy with her family. She was an avid art fan, collecting art for many years through her travels with Jack. She even took art classes at the museum in Lubbock. Eloise loved entertaining and had many close friends. She and Jack were huge Texas Tech football fans and rarely missed a game. Eloise was a devoted wife, Christian, mother and grandmother. In her later years, one of her favorite things was to share stories from her past with her grandchildren.
In 2009, Jack and Eloise relocated to San Antonio, TX, to be closer to Donald and Cindy. They were able to enjoy their three grandchildren, to see them all get married and have families of their own. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved the times they were together. She will be greatly missed, and her memory will live on with them.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Agnes Tunnell, her former husband, Donald Weast, her husband, William Strange, her sister, Mary Charlotte Smithee, and two brothers, Larry and Richard.
Eloise is survived by her son, Donald Weast and his wife Cindy; sister, Frances Babb of Tyler, TX; three grandchildren, Nathan Weast (Heather), of Liberty Hill, TX, Amanda Rogers (Chris) of Flint, TX, and Adriane Rhodes (Ryan) of San Antonio, TX; and seven great-grandchildren.
