

Born on November 15, 1939, Elsie was the cherished daughter of Albert H. and Mary S. Treviño. She graduated from high school where she developed her love for music, playing the clarinet in the Burbank High School Marching Band. At the age of 19, she married Frank O. Barrera and they raised two children until his death in 2013.
Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank O. Barrera; her parents, Albert H. and Mary S. Treviño; her brother, Archie Treviño; and her sister, Rose Huerta.
She is survived by her devoted children, Frank T. Barrera and Lisa L. Barrera-Sanders; her loving grandson, Joshua Q. Barrera; her supportive son-in-law, Robert G. Sanders, and sister-In-Law, Carolina B. DeLaCruz.
Elsie was a dedicated homemaker and a wonderful mother whose life centered around faith, family, and compassion. She was also the co-owner of REDCO Heating and Air Conditioning, where she worked alongside her husband, contributing to the family business with dedication.
Musically gifted and spiritually grounded, Elsie found great joy in playing the keyboard and singing in church. Her love of music was matched only by her talent for nurturing plants—her home was always filled with thriving greenery.
Elsie was a caregiver by nature and put others’ needs before her own. Her sacrifices for her family were countless and unwavering. She had a positive outlook and was able to find the good in everything. She will be remembered for her unconditional love and generosity. Her love was the foundation of her family. She loved her family and encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
Elsie’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A memorial service for Mrs. Barrera will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, Texas 78232.
