

Emma Lee Carpenter lost her fight with lung cancer on October 23, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born on October 16, 1924 in Tuleta, Texas, to the late Thomas Byron and Ada Alice Cheney, Sr. A wonderful mother and grandmother, she always had a shoulder you could lean on, and was the foundation of her family. Emma Lee loved to laugh, and was a fan of the San Antonio Spurs. She never met a stranger, but was shy despite loving to be the center of attention.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley C. Carpenter, son James Carpenter, parents Thomas and Ada, siblings Geneva and Tom, and granddaughters Shelli and Laura Eberwein. Emma Lee leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Patricia Eberwein (Larry), and Mary Weeks; grandchildren Carl Gilbert (Tracie), Kevin Eberwein (Natalie), Chris Gilbert (Brittni), Jared Carpenter, and Greg Carpenter; and 5 great-grandchildren with one more great-grandchild on the way.
The family would like to thank VITAS Hospice for their exceptional care and attention they gave to Emma Lee.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 7-9pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, SA,TX 78218. A funeral service will take place at 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Emma Lee will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
