

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Emma Alcorta Moya on Friday, June 14, 2024. Born on November 4, 1937, Emma Alcorta Moya was the youngest daughter and the last surviving sister of their generation of the Alcorta family.
Emma will always be remembered for her unwavering determination, strong principles, and tough love. She led a life of resilience and discipline, traits that shaped the lives of her children and grandchildren. While Emma was often perceived as strict and tough, those who knew her understood the depth of her love towards her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.
In accordance with Emma Alcorta Moya’s wishes, she will be cremated, a testament to her simple life. This choice reflects the commitment to leaving a gentle footprint on her children and grandchildren.
Emma Alcorta Moya was preceded in death by her parents, Severo and Santiaga Alcorta, and seven siblings: Ruth Reid, Adelina Rosser, Victoria Josephine Aguilar, Severo Alcorta, Gloria Alcorta Ramirez, Richard Alcorta, and Elida A Silva.
Emma Alcorta Moya is survived by her husband of 40-years, Henry Moya, oldest son Robert A. Marotta Jr., only daughter Alice (Henry) Arredondo, and youngest son Dante J. (Dolores) Marotta along with eight grandchildren, Sergio Marotta, Gizeh (Vasana) Marotta, Miranda (Mike) Moreno, Natalie (Clay) Prescott, Michaela (Daniel) Falcon, Jessica (Jose) Silva-Soto, JesseRey Huerta, and Geovanna Marotta, along with several great grandchildren.
The family extends their gratitude to all the nurses at VITAS Healthcare who provided compassionate care and support to Emma during the final months and weeks of her life.
A Mass Intention will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 3107 N. St. Mary’s Street, San Antonio, TX 78218, Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 11:00 am.
A memorial visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218, Monday, July 1, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. We look forward to visiting with our mother’s/grandmother’s family and friends during this time.
A memorial visitation and final farewell will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 2, 2024. A Mass will immediately follow from 11:00 am to noon. All friends and family are welcome to join us to celebrate Emma Moya’s life from noon - 2:00 pm at a luncheon immediately following the mass all being held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
