

Surrounded by his beloved family, Henry Joseph Schroeder, Jr. born September 24, 1929, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the age of 78.
He was a graduate of Fox Tech High School, Class of 1947. Enlisting at the age of 17, he proudly served his country as a Seaman in the United States Navy during the Korean War, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1953.
He retired from the San Antonio State Hospital in 1986 after over 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elisa Ann Fisher Schroeder and Enrique Jose Schroeder; his brothers-in-law, Roger A. "Hutchie" Garcia, Sr., and James A. Pirotina; and by his grandson, Benjamin Henry Juarez. He is survived by: his wife of 39 years, Isabel J. Schroeder; daughter, Ann Marie Schroeder; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Jean Schroeder-Juarez and Adrian R. Juarez; grandson, Matthew Joseph Juarez; sister, Dorothy Pirotina; dear friends, Margaret Embry and Sarah K. Fuchs; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, friends and neighbors.
The Schroeder family would like to thank and recognize the efforts of: Dr. Gladys Rodriguez, Dr. Ronald Drengler, and all the staff at South Texas Oncology and Hematology Associates; the nurses, radiologists and staff at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center; Dr. Gilbert Ruiz, Dr. Anwar Gerges and Dr. Aris Nikas, Dr. Ernesto Guerra, Dr. Ronald Hamner and all the nurses, social workers and staff of the Bexar County Dialysis Center.
Your work gave Henry many additional years to spend with his family, friends, his much-loved cats, and to tend to his tomatoes and jalapenos in his beautiful gardens. Thank you as well to the dedicated MICU Staff at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital.
