Enriqueta Lozano Diaz

Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Keta later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she courageously began a new life. Though she did not initially speak English, she learned the language while raising her family and building a future—her strength and optimism inspiring all who knew her.

Keta earned her Associate Degree in Office Management and dedicated nearly 20 years to a career in accounts payable at University Hospital, where she was admired and respected by colleagues and friends. Above all, she was the heart of her family, raising three children and delighting in her grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished deeply.

She found joy in gardening, music, and traveling the world, always eager to experience new sights and learn new crafts. Fall was her favorite season, and she especially loved the celebrations of Fiesta, where she could be found playing mariachi music and dancing with her family and friends. Cumbia music held a special place in her heart, and she treasured attending concerts by her favorite artists, Juan Gabriel and Vicente Fernández.

Family visits to her hometown of Monterrey remained especially meaningful, as she cherished time spent with extended loved ones. She also enjoyed simple pleasures—working on word searches, shopping for her family, and savoring her favorite meals, particularly enchiladas and cabrito. Among her favorite restaurants were Olive Garden, Yard House, Luby’s, and IHOP.

Keta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernesto Diaz; her father, Ramón Lozano; and her mother, Guadalupe Villarreal Aguilar. She is survived by her loving children, Marlene C. Diaz, Diana Pompa (Daniel), and George Diaz; and her grandchildren, Judith Rebecca Diaz, Noah Pompa, and Nickolas Pompa.

Services will be held on October 2, 2025, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will follow on October 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive, San Antonio, Texas. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Keta’s memory will live on in the love she shared, the joy she inspired, and the legacy she leaves with her family and all who knew her.

Enriqueta “Keta” Díaz, de 87 años, falleció en paz en su hogar en San Antonio, Texas, el 15 de septiembre de 2025, rodeada de su familia y en los amorosos brazos de Dios.

Nacida en Monterrey, México, Keta después se mudó a Chicago, Illinois, donde con gran valentía comenzó una nueva vida. Aunque al principio no hablaba inglés, lo aprendió mientras criaba a su familia y construía un futuro—su fortaleza y optimismo inspiraron a todos los que la conocieron.

Keta obtuvo su grado de Asociado en Administración de Oficinas y dedicó casi 20 años a su carrera en cuentas por pagar en el University Hospital, donde fue admirada y respetada por colegas y amistades. Sobre todo, fue el corazón de su familia, criando a tres hijos y disfrutando profundamente a sus nietos, a quienes amó y cuidó con todo su ser.

Encontraba alegría en la jardinería, la música y los viajes por el mundo, siempre con ganas de conocer nuevos lugares y aprender nuevas manualidades. El otoño era su estación favorita, y disfrutaba especialmente de las celebraciones de Fiesta, donde se le podía ver tocando música de mariachi y bailando con su familia y amigos. La música de cumbia tenía un lugar muy especial en su corazón, y atesoraba los conciertos de sus artistas favoritos, Juan Gabriel y Vicente Fernández.

Las visitas familiares a su tierra natal, Monterrey, siempre fueron muy significativas, pues valoraba el tiempo compartido con sus seres queridos. También disfrutaba de los placeres sencillos—resolver sopas de letras, comprar detallitos para su familia, y saborear sus comidas favoritas, en especial las enchiladas y el cabrito. Entre sus restaurantes preferidos estaban Olive Garden, Yard House, Luby’s y IHOP.

Keta fue precedida en la muerte por su amado esposo, Ernesto Díaz; su padre, Ramón Lozano; y su madre, Guadalupe Villarreal Aguilar. Le sobreviven con amor sus hijos, Marlene C. Díaz, Diana Pompa (Daniel), y George Díaz; así como sus nietos, Judith Rebecca Díaz, Noah Pompa y Nickolas Pompa.

Los servicios se llevarán a cabo el 2 de octubre de 2025 en Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, con velorio a partir de las 6:00 p.m. y un rosario a las 7:00 p.m. La misa fúnebre será el 3 de octubre de 2025 a las 10:00 a.m. en St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive, San Antonio, Texas. El sepelio se realizará en Holy Cross Cemetery.
